Club Board of Directors Meeting

 

March 22, 2018

 

Call to Order

A board of directors meeting of The Village Woodshop was held on March 22, 2018 at 704 Oak Street, The Villages Florida.  It was called to order at 7:00 PM and was presided over by John Herega, Chairman, and Byron Porter Jr., secretary. A quorum was met and established.

Attendees

Voting members in attendance included:

John Herega, Sandra Moraco, Conway Williams, Bob Bell, Glenn Croteau, Harm Borfitz, John Scott, Alvin Corenblum

 

Members not in attendance included: Mike Cromwell

 

Guests in attendance included:

Byron Porter Jr., Anne Bell, Jim Spallone, Mike Borfitz, Dave Adamovich

 

Approval of Previous Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the previous February 22, 2018 meeting was made by, Harm Borfitz and seconded by, Sandra Moraco and unanimously approved by all with any additions and/or corrections.

 

Old Business
Review waiting list numbers: John Herega presented VWC Monthly Shop Attendance reports.

·          Mike Borfitz and Jim Spallone will review new member administrative policies. Example: (1) Member’s certification. (2) Number of day’s members has to except membership.

·         Shop attendance reports will be handed out monthly and be reviewed quarterly.

 

 

Officers’ Reports

 

Chairman Report was presented by John Herega.

·         In the next newsletter, we need to include an article reminding members to please sign in and sign out. These numbers are important to the VWC Monthly Shop Attendance Reports.

 

President Report was presented by Mike Borfitz

·         IT Committee: Keypad and door lock are close to being completed; however, no start date for usage has been selected.

·         We have about 25 urns on order. Some new equipment will be ordered by Dave Adamovich which will simplify urn production.

·         Mass productions items will be moved out of core time and worked on after 4:00 P.M.

 

Vice President Report was presented by Jim Spallone

·         Pens for Honor Flight has been placed on hold until we get a better understanding for the number of pens needed.

·         Pens for Troops <> Members participating in the event will meet the 4th Tuesday of each month after hours.

 

Treasure Report Presented by Doug Parks

·         Presented Balance Sheets for Month of February. (see Hand Out)

·          (Total Income to Date – Total Expenses = Profit/Loss) $35,305.05 - $33,760.94 = $1,544.11

·         Motion to approve the treasure report was made by Glenn Croteau and seconded. Passed by vote.

·         The current Profit and Loss Statement is posted in the back office.

 

Office Administration Presented by Anne Bell

·         No Report

 

Shop Administrator Presented by Glenn Croteau and Dave Adamovich

·         A team effort has been set up to open the shop every day.

·         Motion was passed to buy curtains for two windows and door.

·         A proposal to paint assembly room is in process.

·         Jim Spallone thanked Glenn Croteau and his staff on the super job they did on cleanup day.

·         Dave Adamovich pointed out that CNC Machine should be operated only by experienced people to prevent damage to the machine.

·         Dave Adamovich will order mop sander, sprayer and canvas spray booth for urns production.

 

Safety Committee Presented by John Herega for Harm Borfitz

·         Safety procedures for all instructors should be emphasized in order to better educate the general membership.

·         The safety report on the lady who fell in parking lot was lacking proper detail. Safety Committee Members need to be trained to fill out the reports properly. John Herega will take on this responsibility.

·         If members are doing something unsafe and will not heed safety warning, then a member of the safety committee will unplug the machine.

 

Toys Presented by Conway Williams

·         Toys sales for March 15th at the Spanish Spring Square produced $60 in regular donations and $130 in toy sales for a total of $190.

·         Joe Stone and his Wednesday Eurchre Group at Paradise Recreation Center donated $530

·         Toy produced 676 toys so far this month bringing year to date total production to $2,240 toys completed for the year.

·         Toy will make three shipments this month; one to Children’s Home Society of Florida, one to Operation Shoe Box and one to Sumter County Literacy Council

·         Toys will participate in the 2019 Hoedown Days. Started to design three new pocket cars to be used for the event plus they will do the tote boxes again.

·         Toys will be back at Spanish Springs Wednesday April 11th from 5-8:30

 

 

 

 

Other Reports

·         Harm Borfitz passed out Bylaws corrections for the board to review. He requested comments should be sent to him ASAP. Harm will incorporate changes for next month BOD meeting for approval.

Remarks:

·         The first donation for the Christmas Party came from Keith Hudson (A large wooden fire hydrant).
