Club Board of Directors Meeting

May 24, 2018

 

 

Call to Order

A board of directors meeting of The Village Woodshop was held on May 24, 2018 at 704 Oak Street, The Villages Florida.  It was called to order at 7:00 PM and was presided over by John Herega, Chairman. Harm Borfitz as Secretary. A quorum was met and established.

John Herega, Sandra Moraco, Conway Williams, Bob Bell, John Scott, Alvin Corenblum, Mike Cromwell, Harm Borfitz, Glenn Croteau

Approval of Previous Minutes
Motion to approve the minutes of the previous May 24, 2018 meeting was made by, Glenn Croteau and seconded by, John Scott, the minutes were unanimously approved by all with any additions and/or corrections

 

Old Business

·          Glenn Croteau proposed a motion to except the proposed changes to the bylaws as written, His motion was seconded by Conway Williams and was unanimously approved by all.

·         The general membership must ratify the vote of the Board of Directors on the proposed changes to the bylaws. This process will take place at the October 2018 meeting. On September 15, 2018 we will electronically release on the VWS Website the proposed changes to the bylaws in order to give the membership time to review said changes before the October meeting.

·         A motion was proposed to suspend the August Meeting of the Board of Directors by Glenn Croteau and seconded by Mike Cromwell and was unanimously approved by all.

 

Officers’ Reports

 

Chairman Report was presented by John Herega.

·         Christmas party has been booked at the same place as last year. John Scott proposed a motion to spend what we did last year and seconded by Borfitz and was unanimously approved by all.

·         John will remind Mrs. Bell that next month should present us with the next year operational calendar and the evaluation for dues and fees.

·         Harm will take John place as Head of the board.

 

President Report was presented by Mike Borfitz

·         Janet Tuff met with Mike and announced that a site for the new workshop had been found near the Eisenhower Recreation Center. It will be announced publicly at the Evening with the Developer Meeting.

·         The June General Membership Meeting will be devoted to information about the new shop and the collection of ideas on what people would like to see incorporated into the new shop. A lot of work remains to be done.

·         Dave Adamovich has agreed to head up an Equipment Purchase Committee.

·         Emblems for the Urns have arrived.

 

Vice President Report was presented by Jim Spallone

·         Pens for the Troops – Need turners for pen volunteers. If you know of anyone who can turn pens please encourage them to help. 230 pens have been turned to date.

 

Treasure Report Presented by Doug Parks

·         See the Village Woodshop Club’s Server for the budget details.

·         Glenn Croteau presented motion to except the budget as presented and seconded by Bob Bell and unanimously approved by all.

 

Office Administration Presented by Anne Bell

·         No Report

 

Shop Administrator Presented by Glenn Croteau and Dave Adamovich

·         Painting back assembly room on June 9 and 10Th. Glenn will put out appeal to please remove all your projects from the back.

 

 

Safety Committee Presented by John Herega for Harm Borfitz

·         Two new members have been added to the safety committee.

 

Toys Presented by Conway Williams

·         The Toy Department continues to make excellent progress toward our 2018 Goals We participated in one external community activity in May Toys on the Square at Spanish Springs on May 23rd, where we collected $39 regular donations and $75 in toy sales for a total of $114. My thanks to all the Toy Team members, Ron, Mike Custard, and Spike Durant who donated their time and efforts to this activity.

 

·         Our Toy production activities continued at a brisk pace in May.

- We produced 783 toys for the month.

- Which means we are already 983 toys ahead where we were at the end of May last year.

- So far in June we have produced an additional 256 Toys

- This brings our year to date total production to 4323.

 

·         Our shipments for May included two to The Children’s Home Society of Florida and one to Rimes ELLC.

- They contained 210 toys.

- Their donation value was $2969.

- This brought our year to date shipments to 1706 toys with a donation value of $13,934.

 

·         We will be back at Lake Sumter Landing town square on Thursday September 13th from 5-8:30. As has always been our practice we will suspend operations on the squares for June, July and August.
