We discussed, also, an incident involving the dual cylinder sander. While sanding a thin board, the board was ejected from the sander. Several corrective actions were discussed, several had been implemented prior to this meeting.

GO TO PEOPLE:

Everyone on the list of members that was generated last month has agreed to participate in this program. The committee discussed several methods of identifying the “Go To People.” It was decided to purchase “NEED HELP? ASK ME! buttons” to be worn by those volunteering to participate. We will continue to look for other qualified people for this group

Face Shields: - NO ACTION THIS MONTH

The use of face shields has been included in the certification program. There is a need to inventory them and establish a central area for storage, presently they are scattered on shelves in the lathe area.

NEW DUST MASKS: - NO ACTION THIS MONTH

John Herega will create a power point presentation on the availability and use of the newest dust masks.

INSTRUCTOR TRAINING & SHOP STANDARDS: - NO ACTION THIS MONTH

It has been brought to the attention of the safety committee that some of the instructors teaching some of the classes are not adhering to the safety practices presented in our certification process, and/or are teaching “short cuts” or practices to novices that should be taught in advanced classes a when the members have had more experience. It was suggested that all instructors attend a certification class and adhere to a standard for set up and safe use of each piece of equipment and all related safety practices. This item will be discussed with Bob Mathews upon his return.

ACCIDENT FREE DAYS TALLY: - NO ACTION THIS MONTH

We will display the current number of accident free days on a weekly basis on the scrolling message board at the front desk.
