Board of Directors Meeting

September 26, 2019

 

 

Call to Order

A board of directors meeting of The Village Woodshop was held on September 26, 2019 at 704 Oak Street The Villages, Florida.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM and was presided over by Steven Yovan for Mike Cromwell, Chairman. A quorum was established.

 

Attendees

Voting members in attendance included:

Harm Borfitz, Mike Cromwell, Judi Meyers, John Warner, Bob Bell, Alvin Corenblum, John Scott, Steve Yovan and Glenn Croteau.

 

Members not in attendance included:

None

 

Guests in attendance included:

Non BOD guest Business

Approval of Previous Minutes

·         Motion to approve the minutes of the previous August 22, 2019 meeting was made by Glenn Croteau and seconded by John Warner and unanimously approved by all.

 

Old Business:

·         The new belt sander has arrived and has been placed into service. The old sander is crated and ready to go back to the manufacture for refurbishment; upon its return, it will be held in reserve awaiting the opening of the new shop.

 

Officers’ Reports

 

Chairman Report presented by Mike Cromwell:

·         Everything seems to be going along very well and I have nothing to report at this time.

President’s Report presented by Mike Borfitz.

·         Ann Bell has completed training of 9 new members for the front desk.

·         Collection of dues will begin early next month.

·         Certification of new members continues at a rate of 40 each month.

·         The waiting list to join the club stands at 362.

 

Vice President Report presented by Jim Spallone

·         No report.

 

Treasure Report presented by Mike Borfitz for Doug Parks

·         See the village Woodshop Club’s Server for the budget details.

·         A motion was made to accept the report by Harm Borfitz and seconded by Judi Meyers and passed by unanimous voice vote.

 

Shop Administrator presented by Glenn Croteau

·         Request for Tom Melovgih to receive a credit card in order to buy material required for the shop.

·         Hand sanders need to be cleaned after each use. We had one burn out because it was not cleaned properly.

·         It is important to keep the shop clean. Some of the members are not cleaning up after themselves. Other members are leaving projects on tables for a long period of time.

·         New signage for the new shop will be updated. Approximate cost will be about $2,000.

·         We need a master key for Brian Leininger, who cleans the filters for the shops. This task is done during times when the shop is not opened.

 

Safety Committee Report presented by John Herega for Harm Borfitz

·         Circuit breakers were not labeled.

·         The new lathe on the shop floor cannot be used until we install a 220 line. A new service will be installed.

·         A medical emergency happened on the CNC Machine. A report has been filed.

 

Discussion Notes

·         Harm mailed the updated bylaw changes to all board members. Motion to approve the bylaws was made by Judi Meyer and seconded by John Warner and unanimously approved by all. They will be presented to the general membership for their approval at a future date.
