Granting Waivers From Monitor Duties

GRANTING WAIVERS FROM MONITOR DUTIES

Proposal for Waivers from Monitor Duties

The only exceptions to the required 12 hours (three shifts) monitor duty should be for:

1.Those who have a medical waiver

2.Those who put in additional hours needed to effectively run the VWC.

3.Instructors who teach a minimum of 12 hours of classes which are considered necessary for the essential operation of the club.

The three types of instructors are:

How to and equipment classes

Certification

Monitor training

These three types of qualifications should be the only exceptions for which a member receives a waiver.

Starting in the calendar year 2011for a member to qualify for a waiver form monitor duties for the next year, he/she must qualify one of the three  above categories.  He/She should have completed a minimum of 36 hours service to the club in the current year.  During the first 15 days of September, department heads shall present to the Office Manager a list of members who qualify (preformed extra club service) for a waiver for the next  year. The list shall include those members who have completed 36 hours in the current year or who are scheduled to complete 36 hours in the current year. They may also specify members who split time between two or more departments specifying the number of hours in each department.  If two or more departments specify the same member and the total hours exceed the 36 hour requirement, then  the  department  that  has  the  most  hours  specified  shall  be  the sponsoring department and the Office Manager shall include the member on the next years proposed waiver list. All submitting departments shall have a representative attend the September BOD meeting to answer any  questions  that  may  arise.  The Office Manager shall submit  a consolidated  request to the BOD at the September board meeting. The BOD shall confirm members on the list and instruct the Office Manager to pass the confirmed list to IT to be included in the next year’s renewal procedures by October 1.

No waiver shall be assigned to a member who is joining a department during a year who does not have a current waiver for service preformed from the previous year without BOD approval. The  department  head  shall  appear  before  the  BOD  to  show why the service should be waived.

During the first year of membership no member shall be eligible for monitor waiver.
